Final Projects - Google Map

Here is a Google Map MyMap that features locational links and descriptions of all the 10x10 project pages.

Each pin-point represents a 10’x10’ square of NYC that DDC students claimed as their own. Teens used their spaces as sites for collaboration, creative intervention, research and performance. Through this project, we re-mapped our city.

Eyebeam’s DDC students spent a great afternoon with some alumni from NPR’s Radio Rookies program. The Rookies interviewed each of the students about their 10x10 projects, which were in process at the time. Students had the opportunity to talk about their individual work, the tools they were using to make it, and the challenges they faced. The Rookies also made footage of project work in action! Stay tuned for some snippets of audio. (All images above courtesy of Hawa Lee, NPR Radio Rookie Alum.)

Daily Blog Day 8 by Estephanie

Yesterday at DDC we shared each others’ projects and our ideas about how we will be presenting them. We received feedback and made changes that were needed, if needed. We also used Sketch Up and made a model of our ten by ten space.

Kaome: This is a chopped up version of my space.  It is near a carousel by the pier.  The idea is to put my space somewhere it is shady area so that people will be more likely to stop by and interact with my space.

Starting Plan Of The Guess That Tune Public Gameshow

Kaome: Here I am presenting my planned project.  My idea consists of playing music simultaneously in a period of time.  The person in the game will have to guess which artist the song belongs to.  The speakers that the music will be played through will be placed in each corner of the 10x10 space. There also will be a table placed in the middle of the space which will have the artists of the songs on them.  The point of the game is to match the artsist with the speaker the music is being played through.  If the person matches each artist with the correct speaker they win a prize.

My Plan For My Space

So my plan is to use optical illusions to make the people who go into my 10x10 space feel as if they’re in a whole different area . My areas that i will be using are not concrete yet but so far I’m thinking about space and the ocean. I don’t knw if i am really going to use the ocean because my space is right next to the ocean.

I will be using hidden cameras and camecorders to record reactios to the scene switch. I don’t know what type of material the walls will be made out of because i don’t know if it will rain.
